About us

East Cooper Outboard Motor Club is a non-profit organization. We are located in Charleston on Goldbug Island between Mt. Pleasant and Sullivan's Island on the Intracoastal Waterway, next to the Ben Sawyer Bridge.

East Cooper Outboard Motor Club was founded in the early 1950's by a group of local men and their families. Goldbug Island was purchased by the founding members of East Cooper Outboard Motor Club to provide a convenient and nearby gathering place for the original club members. Since then we've built a club house, an improved ramp and dock along with a few out buildings. Goldbug Island was placed in a conservation easement several years ago to protect its uniqueness and preserving the island from development.
